FarmVille Strategy and Cheats: Trapping Your Farmer

Harvesting, plowing, and planting a big farm is a lengthy process. This popular cheat increases the speed at which your farmer works by 2-3 times. What you do is trap your farmer at the center of the farm in hay bales, fences, animals, or whatever you like. When your farmer is trapped, he will automatically harvest, plant, plow, or build instantly with no travel time. The simple fact that he does not need to move to each planting square saves tons of time. Additionally, there is no slow walks when doing things on opposite sides of the farm.

Here is what it looks like:
He looks pretty content standing in those hay bales..

These bales or items should be placed in a square shape (you can use 4 points like a compass as well) around the space where your farmer starts off (direct center of your farm). You should leave a space in the square where your farmer appears as he need some space to move around. The only downside to this strategy is that you lose 1 planting space, but the speed increase is well worth it.

It could be argued that this is cheating rather than a "creative use of game mechanics", as this was never intended (could result in a ban). However, I imagine one in four farms already uses this technique since it is that valuable, and there is no way they can afford (from a financial standpoint) to ban 1/4 (or more) of their users. Additionally, I think the fact that this cheat is so popular underscores how annoying it can be to plow a big farm. Fuel honestly does not do much - the free fuel should be twice as effective, and the fuel you actually pay for should be twenty times as effective, it's just not worth spending money on at all at this point.

By trapping your farmer and using GridClicker, farming in FarmVille is a breeze.

Thanks to the various people who have mentioned this to me at this point, finally got around to making a post!

  1. You cna avoid losing that suqare by gaping the 4 rows that converge in the center out then plant 4 squares and circle it with hay bales in the gap you created by pulling the 4 rows towards the edge of your farm which is wated space anyway.

Don't wanan take time to register, but if ya wanna give credit my name is david polega :)

  2. just trap your farmer in the corner using 3 haybales...or even post 3 signs on your own farm in the corner to block him in if you dont fell like buying the hay bales

  3. If you have a fenced-in area, you can move your farmer into it at the beginning of a session instead of putting up a barrier in the middle of your field. Move a section of fence, click to get your farmer to walk in, and move the fence back.

  5. I got this too, surely because u are in 22*22, am I wrong? That appears when the middle where you appear is on some object, the game bugges a little then you jump out from the hay bales.
A way is to use 4 squares instead of one to surround your farmer, even though you loose a bite more space, that still worths it, and anyway i put my holiday tree in it and green/red/brown calfs just to show off for fertilizing friends xD

  6. Has anyone else noticed that trapping the avatar only allows 4 bags of fertilizer to be used, rather than five?

  7. Well not my case, got 5 fertilizers...

  8. I've found that visiting a neighbor with a trapped avatar does indeed reduce the number of fertilizers that can be used from five down to four.

It also appears to turn off the ability to fertilize plots that have been plowed but not planted yet.

  11. I dont place it in the middle. I have made a small place to keep decorations and have covered the area with hedges . Whenever I want to do something , I just move one hedge, get into the area and put put the hedge back.
