Big FarmVille Update: Flowers. Dairy Farms, and Ghost Chili! Strategy and Tips

Tonight, FarmVille added flowers, dairy farms, and Ghost Chili (Halloween crop) to the game.
Flowers:

Flowers seem to grow just like crops. They are bought as seeds, planted in plowed land, harvested, and then subsequently need to be replanted. They also have the ability to be mastered just like other crops. There are currently 6 types of flowers:

Daffodils
Cost: 60 coins
Sell for: 135 coins
Harvest in: 2 days
XP Gained: 2

Red Tulips
Cost: 75 coins
Sell for: 159 coins
Harvest in: 1 day
XP Gained: 2

Pink Roses
Cost: 120 coins
Sell for: 254 coins
Harvest in: 2 days
XP Gained: 2

Sunflowers (not new)
Cost: 135 coins
Sell for: 315 coins
Harvest in: 1 day
XP Gained: 2

Lavender:
Cost: 160
Sell For: 384
Harvest in: 2 days
XP Gained: 2

Lillies:
Cost: 195
Sell For: 360
Harvest in: 1 day
XP Gained: 2

Dairy Farms:

Dairy Farms are a new building and in turn, a new feature available in FarmVille. You can buy a Dairy Farm for 10,000 coins or 20 FarmVille cash.

You then build the farm on your property. It's somewhat big and requires you to get rid of 2 plots of land to fit it on your property. Each dairy farm holds 20 cows.

The dairy farm essentially holds twenty cows for you in one building and lets you simultaneously harvest them once per day. There is no extra coin reward associated with having a dairy farm - it is mostly for convenience purposes. This way, you can collect milk from 20 cows once per day with a single click. However, cows still do not produce much money, so somewhat worthless. Nice graphic though!

Ghost Chili:

The ghost chili was added tonight as well. Looks like it is here to stay:

Ghost Chili
Cost: 80 coins
Sells for: 136 coins
Harvest in: 6 hours
XP Gained: 1

Sad, Lonely Turtle:

There is also the addition of a new lost pet you can adopt - the Turtle (just like with the pink cow, ugly duckling, etc).

Conclusion

All in all, not a bad update! Would be nice to get another farm expansion out soon, but flowers, dairy farms, and the ghost chili are better than nothing!

  1. Thanks for the update, but I disagree with you on the dairy building. it may take up alot of space, but it takes up less space than 20 cows...

  2. Yeah, it definitely saves space.. IF you have a lot of cows.. in the animal guide I mentioned how the other animals make a lot more coins (and look better too IMO!). Also, rumor is that it doesn't help on the zoologist ribbon, which is the only reason I keep animals around!

  3. I don't believe the ghost chilli is halloween themed- it's just the name of a deathly hot chilli from India.

Also, what is the point of spending 20 dollars cash on dairy farm when you can get it for 10,000 coins- confused about that one- any insight? Is it a mistake do you think?

  4. You have to have 8 neighbors to get it for coins. While these people are the vast minority, some people would rather spend cash than add strangers to their facebook.

  5. Disagree with the space a dariy barn takes up. It LOOKS like 2 crop plots, but it actually overflows them by 25% and so requires you delete 4 crop plots. As I mentioned it overflows 2 plots by 25% so there's still some room next to the barn for more animals/trees.

  6. It's dimensions are 5 pixels x 6 pixels. This is 30 total across it's area. Each crop plot takes up 16 pixels, so it's just under 2 crop plots by area.

  7. About the remark that it takes less space than 20 cows, true, but my farm was always as many fields as can fit on it, which left a border on the top right and top left of 2 squares. Cows can fit there, a dairy can't. But with the new 22x22 expansion, I sacrificed two fields to place a dairy and the chicken coop.

That's the second thing I wanted to say, depending on the layout of your farm, you need not sacrifice more than 2 fields for your dairy and it'll allow you to place the chicken coop as well.
